Central Park visitor guide

Central Park is 843 acres. A carriage ride covers a southern loop, not the whole park.

Central Park runs from 59th Street to 110th Street between Fifth Avenue and Central Park West. Horse carriage rides with this operator start on the southern edge at Central Park South. They are a way to see designed landscapes in the lower park, not a substitute for walking the Reservoir or Conservatory Garden. Official park maps and alerts are published by the Central Park Conservancy and NYC Parks.

How the park is laid out

The southern end holds many of the ceremonial spaces visitors photograph first: The Mall, Bethesda Terrace, and nearby Wollman Rink. Mid-park includes the Lake and Bow Bridge. The north end, including Conservatory Garden, is a different visit and is not the carriage product described on this site.

Using a carriage ride as part of a day

Book the ride first if your time slot is scarce, then walk a nearby landscape afterward. Combining a 25- or 45-minute ride with time at Bethesda Terrace on foot is a common, realistic plan. Trying to “see everything” in one carriage booking is not.
